  2. Chaminda Vaas is one of the most successful new-ball bowlers Sri Lanka have had, and he has served his country well. He also bowls carefully as an off cutter, and has recently added reverse-swing to his talents, a skill that has made him a reliable wicket-taker even on insipid sub continental pitches. He even out bowled New Zealand's seamers in green conditions at Napier to give Sri Lanka their first win in an overseas Test, in 1994-95. In 2001-02 he made a quantum leap, taking 26 wickets in the 3-0 rout of West Indies, becoming only the second fast bowler, after Imran Khan, to take 14 wickets in a match in the subcontinent. He then also took a hat trick with the first three balls of the match against Bangladesh in the 2003 World Cup. Vaas is Sri Lanka's second-most successful bowler - after Muttiah Muralitharan - in both forms of the game. In current years he has also gained recognition as a useful all rounder.

  3. Perhaps the best fast bowler Sri Lanka has produced over the ages, Chaminda Vaas is one of the finest pace bowlers in world cricket today. After making his debut in 1994 for Sri Lanka, Chaminda Vaas went ahead and became Sri Lanka’s most successful bowler ever. He has taken 300 Test wickets and also 300 ODI wickets. He has the rare honor of having taken two hat tricks, one against Bangladesh and one against Zimbabwe. The hat trick against Bangladesh was even more spectacular as it came in the first three balls of the match. Chaminda Vaas is also credited for having the best figures in ODIs—8 for 19, a record he set in the game against Zimbabwe where he got the hat trick too.
